First, dont do the names, then the speech bubbles. Its annoying and theres an easier way to do it. I recommend you give each character a text color, like Mario for red, Sonic for blue and Bowser for green.
I recommend you get actual backgrounds, like from bghq.com and spriters-resource.com.
Another thing you should do it try to "repair" their grammar. For instance, let Mario say this in the first panel.
"Okay, we're finally here in Dark Land. Time to save the girls!"
Adding diction to text also goes a long way in obtaining interest.
"Wahoo! Okay'a, we're here! Time'a to save'a the girls!"
